Malware, short for malicious software, is software designed to secretly access a computer system without the owner's informed consent. The expression is a general term used by computer professionals to mean a variety of forms of hostile, intrusive, or annoying software or program code. The term "computer virus" is sometimes used as a catch-all phrase to include all types of malware, including true viruses.

CEOP

The Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre (CEOP), formed in April 2006, is a UK cross agency and cross business department of the Serious Organised Crime Agency, which is tasked to work both nationally and internationally to bring online child sex offenders, including those involved in the production, distribution and viewing of child pornography, to the UK courts.

Grooming is the process of getting to know and befriending a child with the intention of sexually abusing them. Children have it drummed into them that they shouldn’t talk to, or go anywhere with, strangers so paedophiles often take their time to build up a trusting relationship.


Grooming doesn’t have to be online, but the internet gives paedophiles the anonymity to act more freely, and access to children who are not under direct parental supervision.
